In response to last
week’s question, "Can you be perfectly wrong?," my writing and
sailing friend Rich bragged, "It’s a rare talent, but yes, I have lived it
so I know it is possible."
My sailing friend Jim
acknowledged, "Absolutely. Just ask any of my ex-girlfriends,"
to which my broadcast TV station friend Bill empathized, "Yes. You can be
perfectly wrong for a situation," to which my dad's beach buddy Bob
added, "Yes, when the new outfit you just purchased turned out to be the
wrong size and you can't return it."
My comedy friend Bruce
noted, "I expertly painted a room and my wife said it's the wrong
color. I was perfectly wrong."
My social media friend
Mark suggested, "Yes, perfectly wrong is the ideal wrong. No doubts, no
questions. I have perfected it myself. Plus it is a much easier
accomplishment than perfectly right."
My forward-thinking
collaboration friend Paul replied, "Politics ever risky, but in my
lifetime, the one example that immediately springs to mind of someone being
totally, comprehensively, perfectly WRONG is the anti-Reagan crowd about his
approach with the Soviet Union. Millions of people, especially Estonia and
the Baltics (where Paul's family is from), rejoice that he ignored those who
said the Cold War couldn’t be won."
My friend Richard
lamented, "If you are wrong 100% of the time, that would qualify as a
perfect score, right? The Falcons’ last 4 games – or all of the Braves’ games
in August and September – would seem to meet that standard. (That means there's only one way to go….Subterranean.)"
Then my equestrian
friend Royce shared the other perspective, "Not if you are always
perfectly right."

this week's "things that make you go 'Hmmm' “:
For Halloween: Should children accept candy from strangers?
Never miss an
opportunity to do something that makes you smile!
