How would you feel if you lost your mood ring?

A ponderable with the humor in the vein of George Carlin, Steven Wright and Demetri Martin,
in response to last week’s question, “How would you feel if you lost your mood ring?”, my friend Tracey and sailing/writing friend Rich concluded, “I would feel blue. ” However, my neighbor Al, having done research on the Internet, determined “Yellow. Yellow (Olive To Golden)-Topaz- Mixed Emotions; Many Thoughts, Ok/Mellow, Fair, Just-So, Vague/Coy, Intent, Distracted, Imaginative, Cautious, Disquieted, Unsettled, Wary, Strained, Foreboding Mood. Actually I found that there are many sites but they all don't agree.”

My videographer friend Ivan disclosed, “Only I would know.”

While my cycling friend Ted and birthday bud Jon said, “I simply just wouldn’t know how to feel,” my sailing friend Kate realized, “Free to be whatever color I choose.” To this, my sailing friend Kurt added, “Free. I wouldn't have that thing telling me how I am supposed to feel. I could feel any way I want to, like sailing.”

My friend Royce said, “very moody,” to which my organizational behavior friend Marya agreed, “We all need to honor our 'shadow' sides! But I'm always blessed!”

My dad’s beach buddy Bob announced, “I would go have a double dip of chocolate ice cream and cheer. I hate those mood rings, so did my dog before he died.” On the other hand, my neighbor Dick shared, “Personally I would buy a "boomerang" mood ring that would always come back. But, of course, I am a perpetual optimist.”

When people lose weight, where does it go?

A ponderable with the humor in the vein of George Carlin, Steven Wright and Demetri Martin,
In response to last week’s question, “When people lose weight, where does it go?”, my friend Tracey wrote, “As if I care... as long as it's gone for good!! ”

My dad’s beach buddy Bob concluded, “It goes into your next dish of chocolate ice cream.”

My sailing friend Kurt suggested, “Someone else will usually find it and keep it instead of returning it like an honest person would.” My marketing and ice cream friend Bruce explained, “It goes in the Lost and Found. Notice that when you lose weight, you seem to find it later.” My dog rescue friend Kate added, “Actually, it’s in a holding pattern so you can find it again.” My satellite TV friend Mark clarified, “it's sentenced to a holding cell, because more often than not, it's released back into the system.”

When my organizational behavior guru friend Marya wrote, “I'm not sure I lose, I think it just shifts around,” my writing and sailing friend Rich explained, “The law of conservation of mass says the mass cannot be lost. That's why you can't get the scale to change.” This supports my Parrothead friend Sam, who shared, “Isn't it obvious? It goes to the next nearest person's thighs or stomach depending on if you are female or male. The weight is kind of a leech that needs to find a home...” My friend Richard saw it slightly different, saying ,”It goes on someone else’s rump, of course!”

My friend Royce concluded, “The fat fairy giveth and the fat fairy taketh away to share with someone else.”

When my videographer friend Ivan weighed in, he wrote, “Weight is really Mass, mass is matter, matter is neither created nor destroyed, but converted to energy. The concept of energy, like light, fairly boggles the mind. What is the mind? Doesn't matter. What is matter? Never mind.”

Ivan continued, “I would like to add that when people lose weight, they are losing a part of themselves. Do we really want this? How much of yourself can you lose before you are not you? If you weigh 450, and lose 225, you now weigh 225. But then you lose half of that and are only a 1/4 of what you once were, but you don't feel you are not you. Maybe all we really are is our mind, which is somehow more than just matter, but a form of energy like no other. That is why we can lose our mind, but not lose any weight. So now the question is, when we lose our mind, where does it go? This is too heavy for me. Like a man on a diet, I'm sort of lost.”

If you are traveling at the speed of light, and turn your lights on, what happens?

A ponderable with the humor in the vein of George Carlin, Steven Wright and Demetri Martin,
in response to last week’s question, in response to last week’s question, “If you are traveling at the speed of light, and turn your lights on, what happens?”, my friend Henry “suggested the question but that doesn’t mean I necessarily know the answer. It could be that it illuminates everything behind you or what you’ve already seen.” Both Henry and my friend Richard concluded, “that’s the definition of hindsight.”

My neighbor Bob, a punny engineer, confessed, “I find this question relatively confusing.”

My birthday bud Jon thought, “You get a ticket” while my friend Swany noted, “If you're driving a Yugo, your windshield wipers come on.” My dad’s beach buddy Bob concluded, “If they are your tail lights, you can see where you've been.”

My Royce determined, “you may be in deep poo poo!” My college roomie John recalled the movie Space Balls and said, “You will see plaid.”

My sailing friend Mike resolved, “For your running or when sailing, it’s not even a contest!”

My cousin Wes queried, “Would not everyone else see you after you went by, unlike Star Trek?” to which my flying, biking friend Ted responded, “I don't know, but exciting things usually happened to Capt Kirk when he turned the lights out at the speed of light!” To this, my writing and sailing friend Rich concluded, “I think I would be more concerned with what happens when the lights go out.”
