Can you have a randomized schedule?

In response to last week’s question, "Can you have a randomized schedule?," my writing and sailing friend Rich advised, "Only with careful non-planning."  My equestrian friend Royce declared, "Yes, and randomization makes life more interesting" while my neighbor Al  concluded, "That's my daily schedule.  I simply enter 'chaos' or 'I have no idea' on my calendar."

My collaboration and now sailing friend Andy called out, "Sounds like how my typical schedule works.  I think there is a Calendar Faerie that shows up to randomly issue spurious cancellations and meeting reschedules just for fun!"  My sailing friend Kurt concurred, "Sure, I've been doing that for 30 yrs now. I'm scheduled to go to work every day @ 8am, where I go and what I do all day is up to my customers. Most days my travels resemble a YoYo."

My engineering friend Steve agreed, "When you work where I do, a randomized schedule seems to be the only schedule you can have."  And my social media friend Mark added, "Yes, but completion deadlines are also randomized on any task in that schedule. Additionally, if any task in a randomized schedule is a meeting, it is ok for any invitee to be tardy (or early) or have some random excuse for not attending at all."

My production manager friend Ray pointed out, "Yes - we all do - it's called life!  Production and Stage management run a close second."  And my temple friend Tracey shared, "Yes... if you have unreliable coworkers or schedulers."

My dad's beach buddy Bob  lamented, "It happens when you get somewhat old.  You begin the day with one thing to accomplish but never know if it will be done today or tomorrow or perhaps the next day."

My adjunct executive friend Lindy opined, "If you slow down time, yes.  Just as atoms are moving in every structure, there is structure in every random minute."

Please send me your thoughts about this week's "things that make you go 'Hmmm' ":

What do you want eclipsed (or e-clipsed)?

Live well...laugh often and heartily.... have a good week and never regret anything that made you smile!

Danger! Danger! A near-total solar eclipse will appear in much of Georgia next Monday, Aug 21.  What?  You didn't know?  Clearly you're already in the dark.  ;-)

Thanks to Demetri Martin, Steven Wright and George Carlin for the inspiration for Hmmm.   I invite you to call or email me to catch up.
