Is chocolate the reason for a holiday, or is the holiday a reason for chocolate?

In response to last week’s imponderable question, “Is chocolate the reason for a holiday, or is the holiday a reason for chocolate?,” my adjunct executive friend Lindy declared, “Chocolate is the reason to get out of bed every day,  not just holidays. Some people use coffee, some use soda, I prefer my caffeine via chocolate.”  My college roomie Jon added, “Dark chocolate is the reason.”

My equestrian friend Royce professed, “A question that is, indeed, a conundrum” to which my cycling friend Ted explained, “I think the reason for chocolate gets a bit muddled in the story of Genesis. You see, G-d did not really rest on the seventh day, he got right to work on creating chocolate. So the bottom line is that the whole purpose of all of creation is so that we may enjoy chocolate. Clearly then the purpose of life is to eat chocolate!! With that in mind, you all can answer the question posted by King Hmmm.”

My temple friend Tracey concluded simply, “Yes” to which my dad’s beach buddy Bob explained, “Both reasons fit the bill.”

My sister-in-law Lorrie called out, “Who cares?  I'll have my chocolate, holiday or no holiday” to which my cousin Wes agreed, “There is no need for any reason for chocolate.  It is to be enjoyed because it is.”

And my writing and sailing friend Rich lamented, “I am married to the only woman in America who does not like chocolate.  This leaves jewelry or horses.  Per her, she has a wedding ring and her mothers broach and that’s enough bling for any woman.  That leaves horses, I am so screwed.”

Please send me your thoughts about this week's "things that make you go 'Hmmm' ":

What does Presidents Day celebrate?

Live well...laugh often and heartily.... have a good week and never regret anything that made you smile!

My collaboration friend Tricia shared a thought from the prior week’s question about the Super Bowl, “The people who aren't interested in sports or television talk during the ads - even the Super Bowl ads!  And the people who talk during the game should just go to the other room. Clearly, they don't care about the game, so why pretend and annoy the rest of us who want to watch?!! 😁Wait - are they the same people for both??!

Thanks to Demetri Martin, Steven Wright and George Carlin for the inspiration for Hmmm.   I invite you to call or email me to catch up.
